I am officially unemployed
February 16, 2012
Posted By:

Well this is my first day of being unemployed from clear channel — I slept in – that was nice.

I now have my exit paperwork to fill out then will be good to go by the end of February to speak with you all.

I know  —it takes a long time to get fired… anyway I am setting up a press conference for early March.  Location & date will come next week.

I really cant express in this brief message how truly humbling it feels to witness all the support from you in emails & on the web.   It means the world to me.

The newly unemployed – Jimmy Krenn…

  • Purple69hayes

What did you do…..Geeze, now I have no reason to tune in so early.  I wish you luck, Ive been listening to you for half my life. You have always been great, you will be missed.

  • Grantmiller1963

I really miss listening to you in the morning can not wait for your return !!!!!

  • Kathy Sweeney

Really glad you will finally be able to clear (heh) the air on this mess.  I know you have friends on the morning show, so I will just say that it will never be as good as it was with you.  I have found another channel for my am commute.  You have been a real gentleman about this, especially since Clear Channel has been the corporate equivalent of a stoneass jagoff throughout.

  • Kathy

    Jimmy -
Met you a few times over the years.  You were a huge highlight during my Daddy’s post stroke recovery period.  I will never forget how you called him from my phone in June of 2008.  You are a great guy, and all about Pittsburgh.  Your charitable contributions have always been super.  I’m sorry for what happened and how you were treated.  But you will be back … and not soon enough for a fan like me.
    See you soon!

    Kathy

  • Sfranklin

The pleasure of sleeping in . . . should be understood.  You make unemployed look good!

  • tt

I get my unemployment check and pow, its down to pantz n nat.
Good luck Jimmy,  hope you turn up somewhere on the radio soon, we’ll be tuned in !

  • a fan

Don’t get too used to sleeping in, Mr. Krenn. Then again, I think your next act (career move) will somehow have more late evening requirements than early morning engagements!

btw, who owns the Jim Krenn Live Vlog/Podcasts you were doing for DVE? I only caught up with a few of them, and found them to be pretty interesting. I doubt the station will be releasing them, given their penchant for never mentioning the past, so to speak, so  I hope you can find a way to distribute them through this site.

    Good luck to you.

One last thing … I was upset first when Jimmy & Steve left the DVE morning show, then when Scott Paulsen left as your partner. But then I got over it and enjoyed your work with Randy. When Randy went through his thing last year, I was once again very upset with your former employer. Now that you’re gone, it is once again taking time to get used to what they are trying to do, but your years will forever be remembered as some of the most entertaining mornings I can remember on the Pittsburgh airwaves. Thanks for that!

GET A JOB HIPPY! just kiding,..miss you in the morning Jimmy.  You ARE Pittsburgh, and Pittsburgh needs you man.  Come back soon!! Some how!

  • Charden828

Miss you Jimmy.  The DVE Morning Show just isn’t the same without you, and I find myself surfing the channels or listening to Sirius.  I soooo loved your skits, and found myself laughing out loud in the car.  You made going to work so much easier.  I wish you all the best.  What about doing a recurring role on Mike & Molly?  You certainly have the talent for it.  You’re going places, and your fans will go along with you.

  • Flecth f. Flecth.

    missing you James….

    F-clear channel.

  • Ramy8991

Jim:  The morning show is nothing without you.   I will no longer listen to it – until I hear your voice again.

    Mary

  • MIKE

Jim,  you kept the morning show at the top of the ratings for all these years and thats how they repay you.  That kind of  disrespect will surely affect the other employees there.  Whos next?  Michelle or Sean. They cant speak into the microphone while they are looking over their backs.Management proved they dont care about the talent they have or the listeners by what the did to you.  Years ago you sent me a DVE RocksTt-shirt while I was in Iraq. If it didnt mean so much to me I would replace the Rocks with SUCKS but you get my point. My wife and I have seen you  many times  for your Thanksgiving Eve show at the Improv and own most if not all of the morning show CDs.  We now listen to another station.  We were at the Rochester Inn last month fo your tribute and cant wait  till you can come out with the truth.  Looking forewar to your comeback show/  YOU will have the LAST LAUGH

  • Celeste

Miss your voice….Wishing you only the best!

  • Mrs. V

I am so sorry they treated you this way.  You genuinely seem like a really nice guy . . . which may explain why you were kicked to the curb (what do they say about nice guys?).  I have to admit, I do occasionally tune in – old habits die hard, but it is just not the same.  I hope you will share your talents with us somewhere else soon.

  • terri

for the shabby way you were treated by clear channel, you have remained professional and a class act all the way! i no longer listen to WDVE, it’s just not the same. just remember when one door closes another opens, and i hope that door hits clear channel in the ass! (dem jagoffs n’at)

  • Sharon

You are such a talented guy, can’t believe Clear Channel was so stupid to let you go! I have been a faithful listener only because of you Jimmy, I have moved on as well to another morning show. DVE just ain’t the same….best of luck to you and God bless!

  • George

You are a class act that put Pittsburgh morning radio on the map to be the best. Morning radio is not the same without Pittsburgh comedy from a real Pittsburgher…..

  • Painterlarsr

i sure hope in your press conference you tell them to kiss your ass, i know your to much of a class act for that but it would feel good. good luck

  • Luvthebeach3

Jim — been a fan of yours from the beginning, still find it strange not hearing you on the radio…  You are one of the good guys.  You are about as ‘Pittsburgh’ as a person can get.  You will always land on your feet.  Good luck and God Bless!  <3

  • Chrisincranberry

Randy and Val are great (as usual) but you are missed.

  • Garythomasevans1

Can I hire you to come cut my grass??? LOL!

  • STAGGY

LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR RE-INCARNATION. ALL THE BEST, JIMMY

  • Scotty-O

Salute and good luck, man. If you ever need an extra mind, body or voice to accompany you on your next ventures, my email is here:

    bartenderizeded@yahoo.com

Its hard not to listen to the rest of the team in the morning, Val and Mike, Wysocki and the usuals. WDVE was the only radio station that i could call mine. You made the morning show what it is and the blueprint for the future, thieves!

If you do continue on the same road, take some people with you. You know who would fit.

  • Jeannie Durik

Jimmy you’re the best!  You are the kind of person that could go into any bar, sit down and hang out like you have known them forever.  Your humor is absolutely hysterical.  I hope you stay in this area, there is plenty of room and you would be missed tremendously.  Doors closed for both my husband and myself and the doors that opened for us are fantastic!  Same will happen for you too.  You’re just too good not to succeed! <3

  • Karma1111

    Jimmy -
    WTF????
I’m shocked! Just saw your post on FB – so I don’t know what has happened. David has been down here for the holidays – so we haven’t gotten our Picks-Burg updates!!!
Thinking of you and totally know what you’re going through – you and Heddy need some time in Palm Beach right about now.

  • Bubba Brewer

  • Mike G conneautlake Pa

Jimmy god your funny i think you need to get a job in erie they have no kind of morning show thats any good Mike conneautlake

  • Joe

Jimmy, I feel as if I lost a dear old friend. You were with me in some manner as I experienced all of the typical rights of passage associated with a strapping young man growing up in SWPA. Don’t let the unemployment make you do anything criminal, but if you need a good defense attorney from Washington, PA, I will take care of you. If you saved enough money, I wont inflate the fee too much due to your celebrity status. If you have to spend all of your money on bond, we will work out an arrangement. You made WDVE Jimmy. Forget Penn State, YOU ARE PITTSBURGH!

  • Deb

Can’t wait to to see what is next.  Saw you last summer at the comedy show you did for the Rock Stars of Children’s hospital last summer it was great.

    I miss Ralph the cat!

  • Tfelice24

Enjoy…it won’t last long. Onward and upward…but I still don’t have a morning radio show to listen to :(

  • Dancewithme2007

Love you Jimmy. I have resorted to a country music station in the mornings. Hopefully, soon, very soon,we will get to hear from you. Know that you are missed more than you could ever know. Take care my friend, Danise

  • Tbrummat2001

    Damn we miss you!!!!!!!!

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1063310802 Christopher Hykes

Sorry to see you off DVE, Jim. You have been a constant in the lives of Pittsburghers for two decades, and, although it’s great to have Scott back, it will never be the same without you. Good luck, and hope to see you out there soon (Maybe at the ToonSeum again!)

  • Scottf75

you r the man. dve not the same

  • Officer Farva

Jimmy thanks for all the support you have given to us police officers.  You are the best.   You are missed greatly.  I know we will hear you again shortly.  Clear Channell screwded the pooch when they fired you.

  • Fred Summa

I asked my wife when this all went down, “How can DVE fire a guy who could get elected mayor of Pittsburgh in a landslide?” Crazy business. You are funny. You are a friend. You are missed. And you will be back! Somewhere. I’ll listen.

Jim: You have been part of my life for the 23 years I have lived in Pittsburgh. Whether seeing you at the gym, the bar or the Atlanta Airport, you have always been cordial and a true class representative of the best of Pittsburgh. Also, your comedy show is one of the funniest I have ever seen! Best wishes!

  • Denny

I have a new radio station WKVE 103.1. Lots of good rock and roll and much less BS.

  • Steppaf

Go and start another morning show. Your fans will follow.

  • Jimmy

    Jim,
You always make me laugh.  You were the show!  I can’t listen to your ex co workers.  Something is missing, U. Plus how many times can you listen to the same old songs, like Taken Care of Business? Good song 2 or 3 decades ago!

    Jimmy

  • Cazim372

love you jimmy! can’t wait to hear your side…

  • Howardstern

    your are very much missed

  • FrostySonofThunder

You were the only reason I listened to DVE.  I am looking forward to your press conference.  I wish you the best in whatever you do.

  • Jlzjr

Jimmy, I have been listening to you since I got home for the military in ’88…the early days.  Have been with you even since.  It’s a very rare and unique run for anything..but especially radio.  Can’t wait to hear the presser today.  None the less…thanks for nearly 25 years of great times, memories and mornings.

Hi Jim. It sucks to lose a job. I was unemployed for two years and now I’m not even in my trained field. But I love my new field taking care of mentally challenged adults in a group home. I was an administrative assistant for decades before this. My 1 year anniversary of caring for these people was this week. So, all things come to pass.
However, I cannot believe that the backbone of the comedic talent on that radio station has been let go because of contract differences. I say they should have paid you whatever you were asking! They’re idiots. But I am wondering now if they knew Scott Paulson wanted to come back and knew they couldn’t afford to pay him what he wanted AND you what you wanted. Either way, DVE has made a huge mistake in not renewing or renegotiating your contract to make you happy. HUGE mistake. I will never listen to the morning show again. And will miss all of your characters and skits. I hope they don’t screw Sean like they did you……Take care and Best of luck in all you do in the future. That radio station will soon know how big of a mistake they made when they start seeing how far the ratings fall! You will have the last laugh there my friend!

    Shari Rump

(PS you might remember my husband, Dean. He was the pastry chef at the LeMont and you had him on the show to do that King/Queen for the Day deal. You had your other guest go down and check out his car and found that it shouldn’t be on the road at all! Funny stuff. We still have the tape from that show!)

  • Tony V

Jimmy i saw your act at the Holiday House more than a few years ago. You were opening for Harry Anderson. you hit it out of the park. i have listened to your show all these years, the show is not the same, pretty much lame. i am done with it. Talk to Stan about getting fired, he may have some insight.   LOVE THE SHOW!!!!!!! i will be listening in the future. your right up there with Bogut,Myron and that fat guy doing farkleberry what evers dahn at koffman’s nyat. JOB WELL DONE !

  • Jen

Sometimes life will beat you down- no Jim Krenn in the mornings, Heinz isn’t a Steeler,  The rocks might melt & the sea may burn.  I’ve been flyin with you as long as I can remember in the mornings but now I Don’tVE.  Coming down sure is the hardest thing.

  • John Oravetz
